OOTP Support Has Abandoned Me - Still Need Help

This issue has been ongoing since last July 27th. I opened a support ticket, which took a week to even be acknowledged, and since then it's been an ongoing struggle to get "Alex" from the Support Desk to assist. I’m coming here in hopes someone else will see and hopefully assist me.

Last July I went to open my previously purchased version of OOTP 21. For some reason that I cannot explain, instead of launching the game as it had been saved up to that point (with almost 25 years of historical game data being saved) the game opened as if I had never played it before. Instead of logging me in, my start screen now asks me to "Purchase OOTP 21 Now" or "Enter License Key". I escalated to Support in hopes they would just provide me with a new key, I'd get back into the game, and either see my game history there intact, or simply upload it back in. Unfortunately, I've gotten nowhere with my situation. I even purchased OOTP 23 in hopes of having my data pushed to the latest version, but Support has not responded to me since December 9th, 2022. My frustration at having to chase them for a response just caused apathy and I walked away.

Is there anyone out there that has experienced this issue and can advise on what I can do here?

I can't help with the license issue, but if you upload your league folder somewhere I can import it to OOTP23 for you.

Or you can try it yourself using "demo mode" as eriqjaffe mentions here. You'll need to import it to OOTP22 first, then OOTP23.

It depends on how this game gets licensed from. You will need to contact them directly. If It's elicense or something like that then you need to contact them directly? OOTP won't be able to reset your license for you only where the game is licensed from can do that. When you buy the game It says who the game is license from contact them they can .help you.

I've had a similar issue. Have recently purchased a new pc and want to move all of the previous ootp versions I own to the new pc. No dice. Can't get any assistance from support on this one either. It's like the attitude towards this is "kick rocks". Which if that's the actual position, it's just not conducive towards retaining customers.

Literally, community members have come on to offer help. The older versions of the games aren't for sale or supported anymore. Did you retain a copy of the .exe setup files for the older versions? You should still have the license number if you still have an active version of the game as there are ways to extract it. So is it that you don't have the .exe files or you don't know how to find your license?

If you don't have the .exe files there are offers above to help you migrate your saves to a newer (and supported) version. I'm not sure what else to tell you. Maybe someone in the community still has their copy of the .exe to get you started if you just want copies of the old games but you'd have to ask more specifically and maybe do so on a more frequently visited thread as I'm not sure there are a lot of folks with OOTP19 or XX at the ready. Either way, best of luck with it.

Thanks for posting that link. That solves the .exe issue. Hope each of the users are able to get the game installed and type in the license on their new computer.

The issue isn't the .exe files. The problem is that the game was licensed with esellrate, and esellrate is now defunct. Previous versions of OOTP cannot be unlicensed(or relicensed) through esellrate since esellrate no longer exists. The issued was brought up to support and the issue has remained unaddressed.

Thanks for the additional info as to the problem. I'd think the best approach if you can't unlicense the game (and so are maxxed out on license use on a version from years ago) is to walk the saves forward from next version to next version until you get to a more current version of the game.
