Waypoints
After a quick search couldn't find anything on explaining the new waypoints. Like in the auto waypoint thing it has the check boxes for the days? Not really understanding that, when you select how many days what do the check boxes do?

Yeah, I've no clue either. I even checked the manual and waypoint doesn't show up.
Maybe post us a screenshot (Shift+Windows key+S)?

For an online league, they have added "waypoints". They are league events but for sim spots I assume. But if you goto the league events/waypoint page, you get check boxes for each day of the week with no explanation. This was included in all the main features for 23 updates with almost no explanation in the manual for a new feature. I would like to know how an advertised feature actually works.

I thought we had explained it somewhere earlier, but I guess we forgot about it. I know we have a task to update the manual, but it's a slow process so may take a bit. I know I've described it to some people, but for the general public:
In general, waypoints can be set to control the flow of online leagues. They can be scheduled manually or automatically on the league events page. Certain processes in online leagues will attempt to "snap" to the waypoints when they can. For example, if you have a waypoint coming up, contract negotiations should try to align to the waypoints, so that you avoid cases like a player replying today that you need to offer him more money, and then signing with someone else before the sim comes in. For scheduling them, the auto-schedule basically is a way to tie "real world days" with "game days". So if your league sims 7 days every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, then if you set "7 days" for the game sim frequency, and check off Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, the game will automatically set up the waypoints and name them so that you can see in which game date a league sim will take place. You can also add them manually if you want at the bottom of the screen. You can set the automator to sim to the next waypoint, or sim there manually in the Play menu. Otherwise, they're mostly there for tracking. You can set waypoints but not actually use them to sim. But at least when scheduled, they will appear on team and league calendars, and can be used sort of as a note for when events take place. Stuff like the contract talks may not strictly follow them - a play might take 2-3 sims to sign still, but the game will try to map to them if they can. If you don't schedule them, then they are ignored and everything just works as it did before. |
