Playing vs Sim- Game Difficulty

Am I crazy to believe that the game is easier when you actually play the games and micromanage the decisions within game? Maybe the AI doesn't make the best decisions for matchups and such?

Also it feels like the "take pitch" is OP for getting into the Opposing teams bullpen and drawing walks. Is there something too my POV or is it just my perspective and not necessarily correct?

I would like to think I make better decisions than the AI, but I honestly think it balances out. I take risks with steals and extra bases and hit-and-run, and sometimes it all backfires. Where I'm puzzled sometimes is how the AI manages a bullpen, particularly righty/lefty matchups that seem statistically valid.

On the take pitch option, when my team is facing a guy with lousy control, I like to take the first pitch (and the second, if the first is a ball), particularly with hitters who are not very selective. Part of the motivation is to make that guy throw more pitches total, and get to the bullpen, as you suggest. Also to get my good hitters in a good hitting situation, like 2-0. I am hoping the game recognizes that the metrics are much more favorable for that hitter to get a fastball he can hit on a 2-0 or 3-0 count.

It still needs bearing in mind that OOTP sims on a per-PA basis, not a per-pitch basis. Apparently they added some things in to make it harder to cheese the "take a pitch" option which has long been a way you could draw a lot of cheap walks, but all in all you have to understand that to a large extent doing stuff like this is monkeying with the way the game operates.

This is why I always play as GM only. Cant cheese the AI if you arent actually playing out games against it.
