Better HTML, reporting & player data exporting

One of the beauties of OOTP is the fact that you can export and share your universe. One step in the right direction is the whole social media posting thing, but few people would want to actually spam their own Facebook or twitter feeds with OOTP stuff.

I'd love to share my reports though and link to things, but it's horrendously time consuming to create HTML reports for a solo league (or a non-solo one, frankly) and I think it's time to see some improvement in this category because if more people could see how FUN it is to create your own fictional or re-sim universe, we'd be able to share it with our friends and others who I know would love the game.

But right now, it's too time consuming to even be able to immerse people into our worlds because I need to tell the game constantly to generate HTML which takes lots of time.

Not to mention screenshots of player stats and reports. It takes several steps. For us nerds who have been doing this forever or who have been committed to the game, we'll do the work. But casual fans -- the ones who will sustain this game into the future -- right now, won't have any incentive to do that.

Can the new blood of this year's beta group think about this and come up with some solutions to help us share our leagues and by proxy, enable those of who are die hards to make the game more portable and thus, potential viral?

I don't get what you're wanting? You want the game to auto generate HTML reports for everything?

This is more of a mod idea IMO. Create a html creator/uploader that works with the game. Isn't their already some website that does most of the hosting for online leagues that has a html creator and uploader attached?

Yeah, it's a mod idea for sure.

I'm sort of asking for more than one thing. I just want the game to export relevant data faster/easier than having to generate clunky reports, having to extract those reports into a format where you'd want to share it.

Right now, it's very labor intensive to share aspects of your league because you have to take a screen shot or post something from somewhere. It's a text sim and I'm a diehard so whatever, but...I'm thinking the biggest barrier I've had getting people into the game is how labor intensive it is to share data.

There should be a faster/easier way to do that, but I'm with you that it's probably the province of some kind of mod that would enable to take game exports and share the data somewhere, but doing so would still be labor intensive and not what I envision which is an easy way for someone who plays OOTP to share what's happening in their league quickly like a player's stats or card or whatever.

I'm hoping by dredging the idea up, someone will take it to new blood of this year's beta crew and can brainstorm ways to elevate the game's data to the fore because I think it's seriously a barrier in getting "traditionally" interested people into text sims, at least from my anecdotal, limited experiences over the past decade or so. But I don't think I'm alone.

Bumping this from the ether. It's still impossible to share your OOTP save details besides HTML export -- which is clunky -- or screenshots. Perhaps I just need to cook up a data export visualizer that lets you share and scan league histories a lot better than what we have right now.
