Best MLB Team to NOT make it to the World Series?

The question isn't about winning the World Series...it's about even making it there.

Wondering what the great baseball minds in this forum think. And if you come up with a few, how would you rank them?

I have a nominee, but I don't know where they would rank...1994 Montreal Expos.

I don't think you can do better than the 2001 Mariners. Yeah, their Pythagorean was only 109 wins, but 116 actual wins and no WS appearance? By comparison, the Expos were on pace for 105 wins.

There are several good candidates.
1998 Atlanta Braves 106-56.
2019 Los Angeles Dodgers 106-56
1942 Brooklyn Dodgers 104-50
1993 Atlanta Braves 104-58
1993 San Francisco Giants 103-59.

Note: 1942 Brooklyn Dodgers and 1993 San Francisco Giants didn't even make any form of postseason appearance.

The 2001 M's were so good because of Joel Pineiro and Ichiro bursting onto the scene and a bunch of vets clicking at the same time. You are right.

I think the Piniella Mariners in general need to be at the top, not just for 2001 but the decade leading up to it where they had a pile of hall of famers and did absolutely nothing with them.

In my lifetime the 93 Giants are the best team I can remember that didn't make the playoffs. 94 Expos excluded, I guess.
