Star Player Signs For Peanuts

Is there any comprehensible reason that this player would sign for $35 million combined over 5 years. 31 years old, coming off of three consecutive Cy Young Awards, and he signs for absolutely nothing. He is normal greed, normal everything actually. This makes zero sense.

When did he re-sign? I know that players will get “reality therapy” if they go an entire offseason without signing and accept a lowball deal at the end of spring training. Still, deals like that shouldn’t ever be for multiple years (no idea if the game codes them that way or not).

Thanks, it looks like something in the offer caused an internal overflow case. We'll fix that bug in the next patch. I'll let you discuss with your league what the right course of action is.

We are discussing options now. Can we trust that other extensions that have been accepted were not also caused by an internal overflow?

Every one will be different. I would imagine that this case was quite rare (basically an internal valuation of the player as mentioned ended up overflowing), so I wouldn't expect it to be a general problem.

We decided to void the Torres contract extension. We are extending him 1 year for 2029 at his current salary so we don't hang the Mets out to dry even though a lot of you would love that.

He'll have his chance to extend him in the offseason which most GMs do exclusively.

I hope you all had a nice read.

We will be keeping an eye on all extensions until the next patch comes out.
