Do the schedules auto generate?

I'm new to this game and am loving it so far. I'm really glad that it's available with X-Box Gamer Pass on PC!

I apologize if this has been answered before, but do the schedules during the new season randomize, or do you just play the same teams in the same order over and over again? I don't think my second season has changed my schedule at all.

As far as I know, the schedule remains the same from year to year unless you used a customized schedule that you load each season.

This is directly from the manual, schedules are not the same each season if you are using the Standard game start, there are multiple schedules included so the interleague games are switched up each season.

Quote:
If only one schedule matching the league configuration exists, then in subsequent seasons the same schedule will be used, but the precise team matchups will be randomized. In other words, the pattern of games will be identical, but the matchups will be different from season to season. If more than one schedule matching the league configuration exists, then OOTP will cycle through the schedules.

If OOTP finds more than one matching schedule for a given league configuration, it can "link" those schedules and use them across multiple seasons, allowing the user precise control over their schedule year-to-year. When multiple valid schedules exist, OOTP chooses a schedule by reading the values contained in the "comment block" of the schedule file name in alphabetical order. For example, let's say you have created 3 schedules that all match a league you have created. The league has 162 games, interleague play, an unbalanced schedule, and 2 subleagues with 1 division and 8 teams each. You have named your three schedule files as follows:

ILY_BGN_G162_SL1_D1_T8_SL2_D1_T8_c_a.ldsl
ILY_BGN_G162_SL1_D1_T8_SL2_D1_T8_c_b.ldsl
ILY_BGN_G162_SL1_D1_T8_SL2_D1_T8_c_c.ldsl

OOTP will recognize that all three of these files match the league structure, and in Season 1, it will pick the matching schedule with the highest alphabetical value in the comment block - in this case, the first file, because the comment block is "a". In Season 2, it will remember that it already used "a" last season, and will use the file ending in "b". In Season 3, it will use the file ending in "c". Then, in Season 4, it will cycle back to "a" again, and the cycle repeats.

Thank you. Here's hoping because this new season seemed awfully similar. However I maybe confused.

I assume you are playing the standard MLB game, so you will see all the same AL/NL teams, especially the ones in your division A LOT, but check your games against the other league, you should see a new set of teams.

I just checked my league, and two years ago I opened with the Royals at home, and this past season I opened with the White Sox on the road (I am the Indians). I also played the NL West two years ago and this past season I played the NL East.....but still have the regular games with the Pirates and Reds on my schedule each of those years.

I don't recall. I'm just going to start a new season and see. Hopefully it'll all turn up good and I just will be doing a brand new season for nothing.

I have a set of inter-league schedules available here on the board that consist of six sets of 5 schedules rotating the inter-league matchups for a total of 30 years. The game flawlessly cycles through all 30.

I’m blanking out on the old time member who made them but if you search the schedule forum he’s all over it.

If you go to ACTIONS> Reports:Evaluation (or Grid) you can get a breakdown of team by team games in the schedule currently being applied. Sim a few seasons, print them off and compare may be the best way to get a definitive answer to your question.

Even using the same schedule file, it should look slightly different from season to season, because the game rotates teams through the ID numbers that correspond to its division. So for example, a game that is Cubs @ Marlins one year might be Cardinals @ Phillies the next year. It's a nice way to provide a little variety without actually having to create a new schedule.

(It's possible that it might be different if you get the game via XBox Game Pass, but I don't think that would be the case)
