I am new to OOTP and have a question. If I have a player on my team, for exmaple lets use Derek Jeter. If Jeter is signed untill 2003, this being his last year, and I want to resign Jeter. Lets say I resign him.
But then I end up trading him away. What happens with the players contract? Do I still pay for his contact extension, does the extension just get cut off because the player was traded, if I do trade him away do I get the money back that he accepted in the offer from my team... how does this work? |

(I believe) the rest of that season and the extension are both picked up by the receiving team.

yep, that's right.
the new team takes on his salary for the rest of the year, and then gets the extensions.
