MLB Stars from the Most Obscure Places - Fictional Leagues

I just ran my draft for my new league, using the default player origins (apart from removing Dutch Antilles, since it doesn't exist anymore), and I my second round pick is from a ridiculously obscure location, as far as MLB is concerned - the Isle of Man. Some of you may not even know where that is - It's a self-governed island, pretty much equidistant from England, Scotland and Northern Ireland in the Irish Sea, with a population of less than 90,000. He's the only Manx player I can ever remember seeing, and he's a superstar. I know I've had a star from Iceland once before, but this one is even crazier (and "awesomer").

Does anyone have an obscure player (superstar or not) from a small place outside the normal baseball locales?

Probably the most famous real life Manx sportsman is the cyclist Mark Cavendish:

I will often seed my game with players from obscure places, imaginging them as the next great baseball power. It adds a bit of colour to things.

Having watched the IoM TT on several occasions, it looks like it would be a great place to train on a race bicycle.

The Bee Gees were born on the Isle of Man.

My main league has a surprising number of Easter Islanders in pro baseball. I would not think a place with a population under 7,000 would be such a hotbed.

So these are all real players? I know Neverauskas is. He was the first player from Lithuania to ever play in the majors when he played for Pittsburgh in April. While all three are pretty obscure, the two from Mali and Uzbekistan are truly very obscure.

Not fictional and he's not a star yet, but I signed a dude out of Belgium as an international free agent. Kind of surprised I saw him

I didn;t know he was real. they are part of my EBL vs MLB league. I have so many players in that league that when i went to the Frontier League ASG then checked the roster compared to players in my league I was shocked that 11 of the players are still active in my league.

Awesome potential; I hope he gets to realize it all. In the future, we will start to see Belgians, French, Dutch, Danes, Lithuanians, Czechs and others from Central(-ish) Europe, as the Dutch League continues to get stronger, but players from these regions are still pretty rare.

In my fictional league, I spent a few in-game seasons with a really high "random" percentage for draftees' nationalities, and the number 1 overall pick was from.... Pyongyang, North Korea!

Now it's about 11 years later, and he's one of the best catchers in my league history - gonna retire with at least 70-80 WAR. No ring yet, though, which is gonna make the Supreme Leader very upset...

We've always had an issue with superstars out of Sint Maarten.

I have yet to see anyone from a really, really obscure country. I've seen South Africans, Czech, and Polish players. Probably the most obscure was a player I saw from Mali.

EDIT: I just saw an international discovery that the Mets made from Costa Rica who is a 20/60 as a 16 year old.

Mali would be plenty obscure. Costa Rica is as well, although it probably shouldn't be, because it's a country very close (diplomatically) to the US, with a mostly Latino population. However, I find no evidence that Costa Rica has given us a MLB player yet.

In my fictional league I have a catcher from Palau, population 20,000. He is not a star, and currently is a minor leaguer, but he has accumulated 3 years of major league service time.

My game had a pitcher from Kazakhstan. He was pretty bad.

There also seems to be a bizarre cluster of players who went to Abbotsford High School in Abbotsford, Wisconsin.

International free agent from San Marino available in my MLB league prior to the 2018 season. He will definitely be a 2018 starter on some team. If I hadn't already traded for Steven Matz, it would probably be mine.

I just picked up Neverauskas in the Rule 5 draft. He had an incredible season in AAA. I have no idea why he was not protected. He's my new closer. Cody Allen wanted 4 years/$18 million per...as if.
