Mvp

Anyone else think that MVP "voting results" would be cool to see at the end of the season? For example, to see if anyone thought your player deserved the top honor.

Maybe when you're the coach in OOTP5, you could even submit your votes for the awards (I know coaches don't vote, but still...)

I will go one better, I think you should have the control on how an MVP is picked, and how the Pitcher's MVP is picked...have the abiltiy to decide what makes an MVP, personally, I think on the pitchers end, MVP tends to lean a little too much to wins instead of ERA as a pitcher has little to do with their offense and can't help it if his team only gives him one run in 7 innings. I think the same thing can be done for allstars too...some sort of requirement setup that you can taylor make yourself.

I just had a 16 game winner with 2.03 ERA beat out a 22-5 pitcher with a 3.38 ERA for the Cy Young.

I would like to see the MVP/Cy Young/ROY awards expanded a little bit. I'm not sure how easy it would be to implement the voting system we have in the majors, but at the very least I would like to know who finished second and third.

Yeah, that's really all I need, I'm curious about how closeother players came to winning the award

I have been asking for this for years.

It would be so cool to have a top 5 or top 10 list of candidates for awards and leave the final selection up to the game player. The newspaper or ESPN type format would add a nice touch of "reality" doncha think?

Was this award chosen by ootp, or you? If the former, I'm really surprised. I'm curious, what were the IP for each?

There's many good arguments on both sides, which is more important, Wins or ERA. I don't think it is as clear cut as many people suggest.

I would love this. This is what I've done with my own excel workbook. For example, the pitcher award depends on a minimum # of IP, then depends on a combination Wins, ERA and IP, whereas the batter award depends strictly on XR, MVP on XWins. I think this might be complicated to accomodate most people's preferences however.

Yes, something like the Top 10 in the MVP (and other) award balloting with maybe something like the real points that show how close the race was.

OOTP picking MVP and the like is fine IMO, but I might like adding "Player's Association" awards (like the NHLPA Lester Pearson award) where we could select the winners. Maybe just open up some # of slots where the player can make up everything about the award and pick the winners.

I would also love to see the voting for each of the awards. That would be a great new feature. I would like to see the top 10 in the vote. It would also be cool if each team got a vote, so you as an owner or manager could cast a vote each year.

i really would like something like SirHawk's suggestion. Where we get to choose how much weight to put on each stat.

But GMO's suggestion would be nice if SirHawk's is not feasible.

Well, "Wins" is a stat that's not really up to the pitcher. ERA (while defense factors in) is more of a true stat.

If you get no run support does that make you a crappy pitcher?

The REAL tweak is that GREAT pitching in Coors needs to be rewarded ala Jason Jennings.

HAS ANYONE HAD A COORS PITCHER WIN ANYTHING?

Manager Mode: The ability to vote on MVP, Cy Young, and ROY awards sort of like TCY handles the voting for awards. It would probably be a good idea to start with only those 3 awards, and maybe expand that number at a later date.

"Sandbox" Mode/On-Line Mode: The ability to select an option in the Leage Set-Up screen to either have the cpu pick those three awards automaticlly, or have the ability to choose the award winners yourself.

Any Thoughts?

If player popularity were ever implemented it could be an interesting variable in the 'awards mix'
