Are market sizes dynamic?

I've been playing through a historical simulation and I'm wondering if the changes in the sizes of cities have been taken into account. I notice St. Louis is a "below average" size market but in the early 20th century,it was the fourth largest city in the U.S. So my guess is the answer to question is no, that the market sizes are fixed. But would it be possible to use historical population data to adjust the market sizes so that the cities of the northeast and midwest would be relatively large in the early years of baseball and those of the west would only become viable later on?

No, they are not dynamic.

I made a tool that you can use to input the information in manually though. It's a few years old, but it'll work better than the game does.

darkcloud, is that right? Or am I reading your response wrong? Do you mean that market sizes are not dynamic in accordance with real life and history? (Which is true.) Because, responding to OP, market sizes do change slowly "over time" in the game. They are "fixed" in the sense that the game chooses market size to suit initial financial setups but they will migrate occasionally after that. But no, they are not realistic unless you edit them yourself.

That's right: market sizes can change over time, but they're not correlated to historic changes in city population. In large part, that's because market size in OOTP is not related to population.

Magritte: if you want market sizes to reflect city population, you'll have to do that manually. The game won't do it for you. Also, you'll need to monitor those numbers because the game will try to change them, and there's no way to lock the values that you input. If you want historical values, you can use Darkcloud's spreadsheet, which is pretty good. I did one, using somewhat different calculations, that goes back to 1870.
