Touchpad Question

This might be difficult to explain. I got a new laptop and the touchpad is essentially one big button. It does have a left button and a right button on the bottom (like a mouse) but the whole thing can also be pushed down.

Now, when using say Chrome, I can "tap" where my pointer is with the same pressure I use for scrolling with my fingers and the cursor will move to that point. I don't have to make a solid "click" to get there. Make sense?

Well, in OOTP I can't simply "tap" to move my cursor or bring down a menu. I have to "click" and make a hard decompress on the touchpad to open a menu. Is there a way to change this, whether in the settings or in some config file?

It's jarring to need to press down hard when nothing else on the computer needs the same treatment and I frequently slip with only one finger and end up clicking a different link that intended and it's a mess.

Hopefully that made sense. From what I can tell most new laptops have the same touchpad I've described.

You may need to adjust the sensitivity. I'm not a big fan of certain types of touchpads.

Is it one of the new thinkpads? I'm thinking of getting one even though so many people are complaining about the missing buttons.

Regardless, have you looked through the mouse or touchpad properties ("synaptic settings" maybe?). There might be something in there you can adjust.
