CSV Exporter Released

<a href = "http://www.trueleaguebaseball.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=3 ">Link to Exporter</a>

It's the 2nd link.

I've included a batch program that will run both the PLAYER and TEAMS programs with one command. TEAMS will export both TEAM and LEAGUE information.

Readme is included, but feel free to contact me with any problems.

Enjoy!!

I'm assuming that I'm supposed to double click the exporter.bat file to get this thing off the ground, but when I do, it says something like this:

"C:/Program Files/OOTP4Util/CSV/>player.exe "c:/temp" "c:/temp"
I can't open , c:/temp/players.dat

"C:/Program Files/OOTP4Util/CSV/>teams.exe "c:/temp" "c:/temp"
I can't open , c:/temp/teams.dat

Am I doing something wrong? Am I supposed to point it to the HTML files somehow?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Paging Jeff Cato... Mr. Cato to the General Discussions Board, please...

What are the chances we can get the Cato history utility and this miracle machine to work together and make life that much easier?

Nevermind........I edited the paths and its working fine now.

Tell me this: Is this all I need to do in order to run the history utility that requires CSV files to be run?

The history utility makers need to update their programs to use the new file formats.

Cato helped me debug these programs, so I know he will be updating. I can't speak for the rest.

Isnt Cato's the only one using CSV reports to get its data?

Yep, Wallmans, you just feed it the HTML.

Few problems lately though.

Question

Great exporter Joe. I think it's my favorite so far, fast and simple.

One thing tho, if I'm not mistaken I believe that the player_field.csv file uses last year's stats, not this year's. Did you mean to do this?

Nop, but I know where the mistake is. I'll fix it tonight and release 1.1

Forgive the newbie question, but this exporter doesn't allow for re-importing, does it?

Nop. This is only for getting information out of the data files.

Joe, is a re-importable csv report something that anyone has ever tried to make work? I just thought it would be neat for mass changes. Just curious as to whether it's realistically possible for someone to be able to put something like that together.

It should be possible from a technical standpoint. However, since I am not exporting internal "values" (for obvious reasons ), I'm not sure how OOTP would handle it.

You said in a later post that you figured it out by editing the paths. What did you edit the paths to?

I assume he did as the readme file says to:

"...players(or teams).exe "c:\temp" "c:\temp". The first path is where your .dat files are in the DB. The 2nd path are where you'd like the CSV files to generate too. The quotes are necessary in both paths."
