Miami Marlins Ballpark

Went to the Marlins/Yankee game on Sunday and took a few pics of the new ballpark. It is an awesome park but I can see a problem getting to the games on a weeknight. Location might be a problem. Miami is so freakin congested without game traffic. I can only imagine.

Hers the link to some pics.

The centerfield monstrosity has a curiously low number of men in assless chaps.

This new ballpark will be their savior and their undoing all wrapped up together.

No offense Miami but it looks like a Fisher Price design.

Well said.

I thought there was an aquarium along 1 of the base lines? I didn't see it in any of the pics. That park is hideous, worst I have seen since New Comiskey.

It reminds me of a hotel lobby mixed with a Japanese ballpark.

When facing home plate, the aquarium is on the left side.

I don't understand all of the park bashing here. I think it looks sharp.

I think it looks pretty cheesy but in a lovable 1970s Astros uniform kind of way. I imagine that thing out in center field in particular will look really, really terrible in 10 years and totally, massively awesome in 30.

Haha! I think you are right.

there are a couple things I like about the stadium and a couple that bug me a lot. I like the large window in left centerfield, I also like the ground level seats in the outfield.

Now for the offenses. The ornament in centerfield is weak and needs to go. It just looks out of place and a little forced, imo. I am also not too keen on the scoreboard in rightfield it looks a little too arena-ish for my tastes, but it is hard to really judge from a couple of photos.

Lastly, this is an indoor stadium, as such I expect it has a retractable roof and the roof will only be in place on rainy days. If not, then the entire structure is an abomination as far as my baseball mind is concerned.

i was there for the game against st. louis. The Aquarium is cool...and i really hope that the plexiglass they are using is shatterproof. it would be a really bad day for those fish in there.

One if my friends linked me to this blog about the Marlin's uniforms. Those new alternate uniforms have an odd connection to their past.

Perhaps...but it is one of the top ten ballparks in the league...and not just because its new...because unlike Sun Life...UGHHH...when you sit in the stands...you are right on top of the action!
