Change Screen name

Does anyone know how or if you can change your screen name. I don't want to change my signature just my screen name. I don't want to lose my status though. I tried years ago for a name but it was taken so I had to spell it differently. I would like to try it again.

Only someone with admin rights (Markus & Andreas - not sure who else) can do that. They have done it for people in the past though I have no idea how long it might take these days to get a response on this type of issue. PM Andreas and wait is the only advice that I have.

Yeah, I've had my name changed from Nihilianth to...well...Vinny P. lol.

I kinda want to either go back to my old name. But mostly, I would like to take the name of just Vin. But apparently that was already taken, apparently....

This is the answer I got from mod Bear a few months ago when I asked the question. He was kind enough to reply:

What's hard is that guys who were here for a few posts take a good nick and it's gone forever. Like there's a guy that used "Jason" for his board nick in 2002, made a total of 11 posts and hasn't been back since 2007. But he's got the nick, so no one else can use it. Maybe Andreas or Markus needs to clean out the accounts of anyone before a certain date so the nicks aren't taken up by folks who aren't here.

In Vb, if you can edit a sig, you're on the user screen where, in my experience, you can change the username.

When I check the members list, I don't see anyone with the name of "Vin," which was what I originally requested my name to be changed to. I was told it was already taken, and I remember seeing it on the member list in the past. But I don't see it anymore.

The member list is a weird thing in vb. There are definitely registered accounts that don't show up. I've even seen posts by people and they don't show up in the member list.

For us mods, here, when we go to the user edit screen we see the things bear mentioned, but there is no submit changes or save button for some areas of the screen (e.g. username), while for other areas there are (e.g. sigs, avatars). For admins, it's different.

If you see the username and can highlight/change it, you can change it. I've been in a vb Mod and Admin CP a time or two.

If you can't edit it, then mods don't have those privs.
