Stamina question

I started a fictional league (the Interstellar League, comprising the Star Trek League and the Star Wars League), and I populated it with players by using an inaugural draft. Then I renamed players to fit my universe. One such player was Lee Kelso, who was drafted by the Starship Enterprise -- a late-round pick, as I recall. Kelso was listed as a Middle Reliever in the draft but has a stamina of 80 (on a 20-80 scale).

Well, he's pitched well so far, and my starters (the likes of McCoy, Janeway, Archer, with Picard undergoing Tommy John surgery) have not, so I figured I'd give Kelso a start, with that high stamina. But he was exhausted after 79 pitches -- probably earlier, but I hadn't been paying attention to his pitch count, as it was only the 5th inning or so and he was holding a nice 4-1 lead. Then he gave up five runs, ugh.

I guess stamina is a relative thing -- if the game lists you as a reliever, your "stamina" is relative to other relievers? I did a search here, and I found a thread on relief-pitcher-stamina modifiers, but I didn't touch any of that -- I just went with the defaults when creating my league. Or is the issue that Kelso doesn't really have a good third pitch? Here's his profile:

And here's the character from "Star Trek" -- a minor character in one episode only ("Where No Man Has Gone Before"). When I created Kelso, I figured he'd be a minor-leaguer, but with injuries and all, I need him now.

When a player is listed as a reliever,he tires quicker but recovers faster than if he had been listed as a starter. As a reliever, with 80 stamina, you'll get a good 50-60 pitches and be 100% ready to go in about 2-3 days.As a starter, you should get to about 110-130 pitches but take 4-5 days to recover depending on the era.

Hmm, I changed his position assignment to "SP" (starting pitcher) before I gave him his start -- but he tired after 70 pitches or so. He was 100% rested before the start, too. Maybe he's just destined to be only a reliever?

Heh, Will Riker is my catcher, and he's struggling to hit .200! The closer for the Enterprise is Geordi LaForge -- 3 saves, 0.56 ERA after 15 games or so. My everyday stars are 2B Hikaru Sulu (.423), SS Nikki Uhura (.335), CF Commander Spock (.400), and LF Jim Kirk (.311). (I love seeing Sulu and Uhura turn double-plays.) Scotty, at 1B, is in a terrible slump.

Lieutenant Worf, the star CF for the Klingon Battlecruisers, has hit in 14 straight games. He's batting .446.

This is amazingly fun. If it stays this entertaining, I'm going to write up a Dynasty Report in the appropriate forum.

Seriously.

I was about to ask for complete rosters and everything - a Dynasty report would be pretty awesome.

Yup, that league of yours definitely deserves a dynasty. Just to see all the team names would be a treat.
