Refund?

After sadly going through steam to get this game, is it possible to get a refund through steam and just have that refund go directly to a normal purchase of the game. I am having nothing but problems with steam.

You'd probably have to talk to Steam to get a refund, rather than these guys.

(Just a guess.)

That would be my guess too. Sorry.

I was afraid people would have problems with steam. It's great that it is introducing the game to more people, but I find it difficult to see how it would be preferable to have a steam version of the game. First you have to be connected to the net to play, then you have to wait longer for patches, then you get steam-only errors. What else? I wonder if they'll go with it again for OOTP10.

If the sales are there, I imagine they will. If they can figure out the patching situation (which, honestly, they now have trouble with just for OOTP users), being on Steam seems like nothing but a good thing for OOTP.

Well, it probably depends of how much of a chunk of the sale that Steam gets. Is it more or less then what elicense or esellerate gets? Who knows.

But, if it is more (I seem to remember that either being said or hinted at) and they've already introduced the game to Steam users with OOTP9, wouldn't most people who bought it through Steam and liked it buy it if it was just through elicense or esellerate next time? I would think so. You'd be losing out on some more new people next year, but how many would that really be? Alternating availability on Steam every 2nd or 3rd year might make some sense, but maybe they already made a multi-year deal.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by patching for non-Steam users. It's not like we wait for our patch when others get it first, is it?

I was merely saying they have issues giving patches to the rest of us. There hasn't been a patch utility, they've been making us download full files and replace them ourselves.

I miss patch utilities.

I agree. I like patch utilities too. Just makes it easier to understand what you are changing. I have just been updating the main execute file of the sim and not redoing the entire thing with each update. I think that leads to problems when you overwrite an older version of any program, not just this one. At least with just updating the exe file by renaming the old one, you are less likely to have problems, I think. But yeah, I would rather have a patch utility for this game. Oh well!

Well, I can say that I found this game through Steam.. I'm having no trouble with it myself, and have been quite impressed! Currently working on a league that I may or may not take online at some point.

My point, though, is that if this *hadn't* been on Steam, I wouldn't be here.
