I have come over to the fictional side

After years of doing the real player thing, I have come to playing fictional teams. I love it. It has been really fun learning the players and not having pre-contrived notions of the players. It is a great way to play OOTP

Many of us have switched to fictionals and love it.

Agree with you, it is a great way to play the game.

I have been playing with real players for a long time but recently i've been convincing myself to try out a fictional league.

I think i might start one up tonight and try it out!
Stupid work is preventing me from playing right now!, lol

It's funny how if you asked someone if they would want to play madden or nba 2k with fictional players the answer would most likely be a quick "no".

But here playing ootp with fictional players/teams if you don't overwhelm yourself is a lot of fun.

The best way to be fully immersed in the game. The players are just as real.

I would love to get into one but I just can't seem to get past the amount of work and collecting required to make a fictional league look as slick and together as the real life leagues I've been playing.

That and I can't for the life of me figure out how to set up a league the way I want to as an expansion from scratch.

You could cheat like I do...I use real teams and the full MLB model, but I use all fictional players. The real quick (setup wise) way to do this is use the quickstart and sim 30 years ahead...boom...the league is full of people you have never heard of (Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental).

Sometimes, I find a lot of the fun is just in setting up the league!!! But maybe that is just me....You may also find one of the templates/quickstarts out there is what you are looking for.

As for how to setup an expansion league from scratch...post some questions on the board, I am sure the many knowledgeable folks will help you!

That's only because, I think, OOTP offers so much customization, therefore being able to build a fictional league to fit your needs and imagination. I know my answer would have been 'NO' to playing Madden with fictional players...although playing the Franchise mode, later in the years when the league starts filling up with mainly fictional players, i actually did start to get into it. But that was pre-OOTP days, now Madden's fictional would suck..LOL

Try some of the QS leagues out there. They may not be exactly what you want but could be used as a template for your own variation. I highly recommend BP's Fictional MLB QS, found at Padre Fan's site. Sky Dog's meticulously set up NABA is one I am trying right now. I want to turn SD's league into a 36 team league.

I'm sure there are several others that are just fine, I haven't had the time to check them out

I would play those games with fictional players, but that's just me.

Welcome to the club, mmartin68. Always great to hear that someone else is giving fictional play a go.

MLB rosters are really just the same as fictional anyway, since all the players end up being fictional.

I really think this game is designed to be good at running fictional leagues best.

It gets better and better with the new features such as the playoff flexibility.

Actually I liked playing Madden with fictional players. Until, they added stuff to make creating players too time consuming. NBA Live too.

In NBA Live 2003, I liked creating this one center. Basically think, Manute Bol except very athletic. (A bit of a cheat but it was fun playing with him in the occasional exhibition.

I would also. I know with Madden 06 there was a roster pack with fictional players. Was pretty cool but was only on the PC and that, sadly, is dead
