Good hitting pitchers

I have 1 in my fictional MLB dynasty.

38 year old Jacob Botterill

2007

.380 (27-71)
1 HR
14 RBI
7 2B
7 BB

2008

6-19
2 RBI

That kind of hitting pitcher makes me stretch out his outings longer than what i would logically do because there's no PH better to use or waste. The clutch example

In the NLCS of 2007 at home up 3-2, my pitcher was down 3-1 in Game 6 in the 7th to the Nats, 2 outs, 8th hitter got on. Logically i should put in a PH, but i trusted his .380 average. My faith in him pays off as he draws a walk. Next batter 3-2 count, runners in motion, my leadoff hits it down the line and the RF dives unsuccessfully the 8th hitter scores and my star hitting pitcher due to being sent scores. The Mets would eventually go to the WS in the 10th after a GW single

I usually use the DH in both leagues, so I miss these things. So, uhh, if he ever blows up as a pitcher maybe you can trade him to me to be a DH maybe.

Well my good hitting pitcher has picked up where he left off in my ongoing defense of the World Series title.

11-32 (.344)
1 2B
5 RBI
.757 OPS
2 BB

The season hitting highlight for him so far.

A 1 out 2 run double in the eight inning to turn a 6-5 game to a big inning.

The difference from last year is his pitching. He's 4-5 with a 5.92 ERA where as last year at this time, he only lost 1 decision with a 2 + ERA. Then again he is 39

I actually wanted to experiment with this a bit, so I decided to take of the best pitchers in my current solo league -- not on my team, of course and I'll never be able to sign them -- and turned them into hitters. One of them actually had great hitting numbers anyway, but I have a DH in both leagues. The one of them is just poised to be a Ruthian figure anyway and so it's perfect, the other guy is good, not great. But in light of Rick Ankiel's recent exploits, it just seemed like a fun thing to do.
