Getting 2007 over 2006?

I'm looking to upgrade from 06 to 07, but there are some posts that are keeping me back from doing so...

- i read that batting avg is way to high, comparing to reality , and alot of games are finishing with 20+ runs.Personally i always enjoyed good pitching over good bating.

- and from posts it looks like that scouting is really bad.

- supposedly there are bugs with imported universes from 06(would like to keep one till i find something similar made for 07 )

Not sure if either of these 2 is correct, so pls if you can confirm for me one way or another.

thanks

I haven't seen anything about batting averages, although I tend to tweak my leagues quite a bit. Scouting is what scouting is. I wouldn't call it "bad" but it can be too inaccurate for some peoples' tastes. You do have the option to turn it off. Finally, as for 2006-2007 conversions, we hammered out a lot of bugs and FWIW my 2006 league (see the dynasty link) imported in just fine. It wasn't all sun and roses when we were beta testing it, mind you, but we went through all that so you don't have to.

I don't see too many games that are really high, at least no more than in the real life of baseball. however, it really depends on the rosters that are in use and how they are created. If a roster maker is making GREAT hitters and subpar pitchers then you will have lots of high scores. On the flip side, you'll see the opposite if the maker is the other way. If it's fictional, my games are very good.

Same for me as the last poster, scouting is what it is. Personally, I like the idea that my scouts are off here and there, makes it a little more challenging.

Overall, the importing is pretty darn solid. I worked on the conversion team this year and there were a lot of bugs worked out to make it a better and more dependable thing. However, there is nothign that is perfect.

Not sure if either of these 2 is correct, so pls if you can confirm for me one way or another.

thanks
Hope this helps

I haven't seen that with the "out of the box" settings. You can tweak these settings however you like, so that you can have 20+ run games if you want them, or lots of 1-run games, or anything in between.

I don't really use it. It has been improved from 2006, but it still takes time to make it work.

Don't know about this; I never had '06. It did import my 6.5 league just fine.

Of course, you can always grab the demo and import your league and check it out for 8 months of game play...

That might be the best way to know for sure...

Imported my v2006 league into v2007 with no problems. League totals import with the game so I ran two test seasons and got reasonable numbers.

Then I found v2007 to be much better at producing real numbers than 2006 with standard 1.0 modifiers in the league totals. So I started another test league with default totals and all modifiers set to 1.0. Numbers were very close with this out of the box setting. Again took a few minutes adjusting the modifiers to get excellent real world numbers.

As a comparison (this is from memory) in v2006 virtually all of my modifiers were adjusted with settings anywhere from .9600-over 2.000 to get real world numbers. In v2007 4 of the 8 categories are set at 1.000. The biggest adjustment is set to 1.334 for hbp (which have always been low in every version
I have had since v4).

2006 was good once you had the modifiers set for you league, v2007 is better
by a lot.

The 'scouting' issue is that far more players are rated 20-22 overall than actually deserve it. Since this is true even with scouting off, it's not a 'true' scouting issue; it just looks like one.

I think you should follow battist's advice.
