The only one thing I want to know about OOTP

I just want to know that the result of any at bat is completely free of game results or season statistics, I am getting ready to start a historical replay and knowing this is of paramount importance to me. Thank you.

I mean, the ratings are all based on statistics? But once you start a “historical” sim it’s basically the same as if you are running a fictional sim (which is very much a thing in OOTP): the game engine doesn’t look back to actual results at all. You can turn historical transactions and lineups on and it’ll use them, so, like, if Babe Ruth threw a no-hitter on April 29, 1916, he will start that day but there’s no guarantee he’ll toss a no-no (and in that scenario the odds are greatly against him throwing one since no-hitters are so rare).

Yes, generally speaking each at bat is a random event not based on the last game or season stats. For example, if a player has a base hit in the last 20 games there isn’t some hidden factor to make it harder for him to get a hit in his next game.

Yes and No.

Short answer is each at bat is determined by the players ratings. League totals will has some influence over the results the players ratings will generate, IE low league HR totals will result in at bats less likely to end in a HR.

Long answer is it's much more complicated than that and involves calculations I can't even begin to imagine, and I've likely way oversimplified it.

It is complicated.
I get the gist of the question.
Comapring to dice strat game is good for me. All the outcomes are based on charts and cards and random die rolls. They are not influenced by SEASON Modifiers.
This is where OOTP confuses me. With the modifiers on, everything 'should' deviate back to the 'norm' because that is what the modifier does so it is not totally random (in my mind)

To me every single pitch, play should be always account for every factor.
Where as in Strat you sometimes check a fielding chart or weather, in OOPTB it can automatically check every factor available and insert random events.
My guess after playing it is, it is kinda like strat in that GB-6 comes up and it is a routine play where nothing is checked. Only x% of things are checked against variable throughout a game.

I would suggest starting by playing 1 historic year season only with no minors with hx transactions. I think that simulates stratomatic the best.

Thank you. You have answered the question. I am ready to go. I very much want to do a strato type replay.

No this isn't like card and dice where it's based on stats.
