Manager Keeps Turning SPs Into Openers!

So my team's manager keeps on wanting to make one of my good SPs an opener. It was annoying at first, but I took it in stride for months because I thought, "well, maybe the game sees something about this SP that I'm not seeing". And I have plenty of pitching depth so it wasn't that big of a deal. Well, that SP has gotten injured and is out and now my manager has made the previous year's PotY winner (an FA acquisition) an opener, in September, and now I'm really irritated by it. Is there something I can do to override this stupid decision?

I go to the "Set Game Strategy" screen and it says at the bottom, "Your manager is in control of player strategy and may not respect your wishes". I go to the "Manager Options" screen and I don't see my manager listed anywhere. I like my manager, we win a lot of games (in the regular season at least), but this is really making me want to fire him! But who knows if the next guy would do the same.

With a controlling manager I think you are stuck? There is "legacy mode" under Global Settings. That might allow you to overrule your manager?

As for me? League Settings>Stats & AI>use openers> never (is the appropriate setting)

I'm guessing you want openers so maybe tweaking that setting to something lower than you have now might help? IE if it lessens the use of openers perhaps your guy will be "left out"?

After that I've got nothing.

Yeah, I just checked and he is "controlling". Maybe personnel should have an intelligence rating.

Thanks! I forgot about that setting. I'll do some testing to see if it fixes it.

Yeah, I have use of openers set to 1 (less than Rarely, one step up from Never) just so the AI can play with it if they want and I'd be totally cool with it if my manager wanted to make one of our SPs a follower to eat up as many innings as possible. But to make a good to great SP an opener to only pitch 2-3 innings every 5 or so days? No thanks!

I don't really like to change settings mid season, but I might resort to it.

No, that's great. Pointing out something like the legacy setting was just what I was hoping for. Thanks.

I kind of like the occasional obstinate manager, or meddling owner, it keeps things interesting (for a while anyway, then they mysteriously "retire").
