Funny you think you made a point.

Name one NFL exec who passed on Brady thru all those rounds who can claim they made the right decision & you wouldn't laugh in their face.

I will restate my point: Even if Sanders was arrogant & immobile, those traits aren't credible reason to justify his drop into the 5th. Not when the alternatives are Mason Rudolph.

I just wish the unnamed sources would just come out & put their names on what they said instead of the anonymous character assassinations. If it is skill based, be man enough to come out with it. If it is personality, stop being a coward & come out with it.

A bunch of you want to see McAfee sued into destitution for relaying a rumor he didn't start with out relating the ones involved. I want to see the slanderous scum who publicly embarrassed this young man & ruined his reputation get theirs.

Heck, Michigan wasn't even sure Tom Brady was QB1. He had to share the position with the wonder kid Drew Henson. Guessing Brady was thrilled to be picked in the 6th round back then.

Should we claim that 1998 Wildcats (0-8 in Big Ten play) or the 1999 Hawkeyes (ditto) were a fierce test for Tom?
No one was surprised when brady was drafted.

No one SHOULD be surprised where sanders was drafted. Only time will tell.

Where this will hurt Sanders is in his rookie contract. He could be the best QB in the league, he's playing 4 years for 4-5 million.

As much as we're on the same side in general here, there are several factors (beyond my general loathing of McAfee) that lead me to note that the young lady in question was not a public figure before Pat found her problems giggle-worthy. (Yes, he didn't cite her by name, but even McAfee's audience knows how to use a search engine.)

Whereas young Sanders has made a very nice pile of NIL money, which pretty much explicitly makes him a public figure. Not that Shedeur should be exposed to unlimited slings and arrows (especially given the arguable reason behind the worst of them), but IMO he can be expected to have a rather tougher hide than the young lady McPunter arguably side-swiped. JMO.

No, Brady was actually pissed

He memorized the names of every QB taken ahead of them and would say them over and over again at night before he fell asleep.

All of the all time greats in any sport edge into the realm of being sociopaths.

Brady thought he was the best QB in that draft and was hyper focused on proving it. Every waking second was put into becoming the best.
Once he had proved that goal, he wanted to prove he he the best QB in the NFL.
After that, he wanted to prove he was the greatest of all time.

Then he wept, for there was no more world to conquer.

I respect the opinion.

But I've never subscribed to the position that money & fame changes your degree of humanity. Being famous doesn't mean your spouse cheating on you doesn't hurt. Having money doesn't mean the slander of your good name doesn't cause rage. You are still human. We can choose to find differences to justify our feelings, or we can choose to put ourselves in the other's shoes & find understanding of each other's feelings & motivations.

So are we going to see only an anonymous college age white girl unjustly bullied by more powerful famous entities ruining her reputation? Or are we going to also see a rich, famous college kid bullied by more powerful anonymous entities ruining his reputation? Are we going to let our moral outrage be adjusted by Shadeur's bank account?

I'm not trying to say one is worse than the other. I'm trying to appeal to the empathy of my fellow posters. Like in A Time to Kill, I want the jurors to ask "what if the raped girl was white?". The NFL showed themselves this week. And like they say, when someone shows you what they are, you better believe them.

That's what happened. The NFL sent him a message. They tried to humble him. We can speculate on what led to that.
