Fixing Broken Links

So I came across a post saying their link was missing or broken, then I came across a couple myself, and I figured it out.

For example, at some point this was a valid address:

https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boa...3&postcount=32

But as you can see in your browser's address field, the address now starts with a "forums" subdomain and the "board" directory has been done away with.

So the post the address above linked to is now located at:

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...3&postcount=32

So if you come across a broken link in the future, try changing it like the above. But keep in mind the address may change again.

Hey kq76,
I am new and I would like to introduce myself, so where should I get started first? thanks!

Thank you for sharing this useful tip. I am still new here and haven't encountered a broken link yet, but it is good to have the answer ready if I come across any.

If I could answer in the interim, welcome! These forums are a wealth of advice, suggestions, complaints, and fixes. Plus lots of cool mods to download, and detailed reports on sims.

I would suggest hanging out in the General Discussions, and monitoring what others are saying. If you have a particular issue or curiosity, scroll down through the posts, and you may find it mentioned.

There is a whole process outlined for seeking help and troubleshooting. I look there before posting a problem, and more than likely someone else has encountered the same thing, and may have found a work-around.

Beyond these points of entry, I think it comes down to how you play the game. If you play historical seasons, there are lots of reports from others doing that. If you have a special interest in foreign leagues, or the Negro Leagues, there are forums on those topics.

In terms of starting with the game itself, the best advice is to set up an organization, either current or a favorite historical season, choose a team to manage and/or to be GM, and then start working with finances, staff, player development, the roster, before looking at free agents and possible trades and extending contracts of players you have. I would suggest playing exhibition games, Spring Training, to get a feel for the game play. Then, start your season, saving and backing up often.
