Lightbulb Some OOTP 23 News!

Hi everyone!

We have an announcement about the future and some news.

For starters, we are thrilled to announce that we have just signed a 5-year licensing contract extension with both MLB and the MLBPA. This is a significant step in our history and solidifies our long-term partnership with both organizations.

On the news side, this is normally the time of year we’d be officially announcing our newest Out of the Park Baseball game and starting pre-orders. This season though, things will be starting a bit later than usual. We’ve had some unexpected technical infrastructure challenges that have thrown us a few extra curveballs. We want to be sure that our launch this year is as strong and stable as our previous versions have proven to be, and we will need a little extra time to make sure that happens. This means, we will not be releasing the game in March as in the previous years, but rather we expect to be ready in April. We will keep you updated on the progress and let you know when pre-orders will start shortly.

Thanks for your support!

Markus & the entire OOTP Team

Ty for the update Markus.

Infrastructure Challenges - I like the sound of that. Sounds like some serious work being done.

Or maybe they're adding something really fun to the game and trying to make it work with the complexity of what already exists in the game.

Not everything is gloom and doom.

Is this what happened in seasons past when they released late? That was even before Com2Us bought them out! Those evil overlords! They’re so evil they did it years and years in advance!

Fair, after the OOTPX issues I still have nightmares over it. I always hope for new and better features!

Thanks for the update, Markus.
And a special thanks for a truly spectacular baseball game.

Looking forward to OOTP23... really love the animation improvements in OOTP22.

Hope OOTP23 will be a big leap forward in animation and cameras.

Give us a choice between batting helmets and regular caps in the animation.

Could you imagine if this game every upgraded the graphics and make it playable with a controller, I would never never have to touch MLB the show again

It would result in OOTP not being OOTP. Just anther button masher, bad idea.
The Show is there for a reason

Now if you only want The Show type graphics and commentary added to OOTP without the button mashing so you can sit, well wherever you want, and watch your game playout? Sure, I'm all for it.

Didn't take long for Chicken Little to show up Markus' announcement today may mean seeing more of our favorite fowl since the announcement of SI taking on OOTP and the total rewrite of 2006.

20+ years of seeing Markus do his thing and still... no trust in his word

Ootp21

Excellent news!!!
Does this mean OOTP21 will stay in the servers a little while longer? Or will it be removed in May as with previous years.

Thanks for the update Markus!!

Like many others here, I really appreciate a developer being willing (and able) to push back the release date of a game instead of releasing a game that isn't stable/complete and needs major patching as soon as it's out the door.

I guess it's nice that we've finally moved on from "guys I don't trust that a German can really understand an American game like baseball enough to keep innovating"...
