Uber Bacilieri - Italy

24 wins / 20 losses / 7 draws / 7 KO
Hometown/Birthplace: Copparo, Italy
Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto
A busy European heavyweight fighting 52 times in an 9 year career. His career started out not that all flashy looking in going only 8-3-3,2KO's, including losses to Conny Rux and Hein ten Hoff. In April 1952 though, he fought and defeated a Giorgio Milan in a 12 round decision to win the Italian Heavyweight Title. Over the next couple years he went only 4-3-1,1KO,1NC including losses to Don Cockell and Jack Gardner. In October 1954 he defended his Italian HW Title against Franco Cavicchi but lost being KO'd by Franco in the 10th round.
From then through May 1956 he was a dismal 6-7-2,2KO's. The most noteable win being a 5th round TKO over Henry Cooper. Losses included to Ingemar Johansson, Werner Wiegand, Joe Erskine, Cooper, Joe Bygraves and Kitione Lave. Then in August 1956 he fought again for the Italian HW Crown winning it back with a 12 round decision over Antonio Crosia. That was followed with a win, draw, and loss over Jose Gonzales, Federico Friso and Mario de Persio respectively. IN Aug. 1958 he defeated Crosia again in a 12 round decision to defend his title.
Bacilieri then lost to Mino Bozzano and beat Alain Cherville before he defeated Federico Friso to successfully defend again his Italian Title. He finished out his career though in 1958 though with 5 fights of mostly failure. He lost to Cavicchi after defeating Friso, then fought an 8 round draw with Rocco Mazzola before finishing out his career by first loosing the Italian HW Title to de Persio and then lost two straight fights to Massimo Zanaboni.
Bacilieri mixed it up in his career with quite a few of the name European heavyweights of the 50's. Majority of those fights though ended in losses thus probably preventing him from climbing higher in the European ranks outside of Italy.
