It's not a CuteFTP option. It's not an option in most FTP clients and it might not work even if you had a client that could do this. The reason why some people can do this is because they have something special to do it. For those who are on the official server it is done automatically. Those who are not need to find their own option if they want to do this.
Earlier today I sent a link to a page with a few options on how to do this to someone who is knowledgeable on whether they would be safe or not, but they're a bit busy at the moment and will look at it in time and hopefully get back to us. I don't want to say who so they are not badgered and I'm not going to give the link myself because I really don't know if they're safe and I don't think it would be wise to advertise something that might be risky. Until then, your best option is probably to do what gom said.
EDIT: Oh, and I use the in-game option. Sure, it takes longer, but it's less work than zipping up the files and ftping them through a client. I just let the game do it then go do dishes or something. I'd like the option of decompressing remotely though for those times when I want the files up asap.
