Cal Raleigh sets single-season home run record for catchers as Mariners top Athletics 11-4

"Raleigh passed Salvador Perez’s total with the Kansas City Royals in 2021 to set the record."

I think a few of us have pointed out that this is a loose interpretation of "catching", meaning primary position. Indeed, the article mentions "In the second inning, Raleigh drilled a changeup from Lopez 412 feet. The homer was Raleigh’s 40th of the season while catching".

But I believe that I read, and confirmed in baseball-reference.com, that Perez DH'd in 40 games that season. Raleigh has done so in 30 games so far this year. So it's a new record for "catchers", not "as a catcher".
