My best guess is to edit the players' bio section to assign them to a minor league team. (You need to choose league and then team, on the screen that starts with name, nickname, home town. Just scroll down a bit and there should be a blank league and team with drop-down at the very bottom. Screen shot attached.) It would make sense to choose an unaffiliated minor league team, so they aren't part of an organization.

Then I would, as GM of your MLB team, make an offer to purchase each player's contract. Given that the AI was obviously "aware" of them, your offer should start a bidding war, or at least competition for their services. (Obviously, you can't go too high, or you will discourage the AI from participating.)

Once there are multiple offers, the AI should generate messages along the lines of: "I'd like to sign with your club, but Pittsburgh has made a better offer. Unless you can match their $7500 bonus, I'm going to be a Pirate," (Note that sometimes the AI seems to lie about the competing offer, in my experience. As IRL.). Actually, here you would be dealing with the unaffiliated minor league club, which has presumably signed the rookies and has them under contract, but you get the idea.

The goal should be to start a competitive bidding process, so that you are not "cheesing" the game by giving yourself an advantage over the AI GM's. If you are more aggressive because you are aware these are IRL stars, so be it. Of course, if you play with player development on, no annual recalculation of stats, and high TCR, they may disappoint you!

Note that there is a checkbox in league settings that would set a standard price for purchase of players from unaffiliated minor leagues. This, if checked, would override this competition (I think). So, you will need to uncheck it. I'll attach a screenshot, with the box unchecked. Note that you have to be within the minor league screen in settings to get the purchase fee choice.

I hope this works. Timing could be problematic. You will need to get your offers in before the AI assigns them to other teams. Good luck!
