There are a lot of reasons it may not work; please try this
1. make sure you have a stable internet connection
2. restore your purchases in the old game
3. after you enter your email don't close the app, or if you need to just put it to the background. Force closing the app and needing to re-enter your email will require you to also get another code.
4. enter the code as soon as possible into the app (i.e. within a few minutes at most) just in case the server times out
5. open the new app as soon after as you can (not sure this is necessary but just to be safe)
6. follow the steps 3 and 4 again to import the seasons
