No, I went and compared the settings for a standard 2023 MLB start to my file and relatively everything is the same. My 40-man roster is only 38 (league evolution) and my active roster size is only 25 but wouldn't think this would lead to this.
I went into Commissioner Mode and DFA'd some relievers on these teams (most teams seemed to be carrying too many pitchers), replaced them with the best catcher from AAA, and a couple of days later some teams are already DFA'ing the catcher.
