What color values are you using for the collar outline and O logo to generate your heightmap, which then is used to generate the normal map? I'm trying to keep it simple, ie use a standard, but it seems the normal map displays better in the player profile than it does onfield (first pic). Overall I think its a very subtle effect either way but may mean a lot to those intimate in their design.
The seams and zipper heightmap (second pic) was created with a black line (like the planket example provided) which indicates a low point, while white is a high point (like a button). I think anything lighter than black doesn't show up well on white jersey and I'm sure its worse for colored jerseys. Keep in mind in the 3rd pic (diffuse map), the zipper was included to enhance the effect. I'm still on the fence about these normal maps...
