I'm honestly surprised baseball teams have yet to follow the route you see NFL teams make every now and then, which is to say that the trading team adds in value in order to get the other guys to take on the salary. The most notable example of that is the Brock Osweiler to Cleveland deal. I guess one reason why this hasn't happened is that MLB doesn't have the hard salary caps that the NFL does along with all that other money that continues to count against it after a guy is traded or released. That said, we are beginning to see more and more teams chafe at the luxury tax threshold so maybe this will cease to become a thing...
