June recap: Division leaders
Lager League-Pilsner Division: Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot - the Blithering Idiot pitching staff is leading the way so far, with the top ranked starters ERA (3.32) and runs against (288), and the second ranked bullpen ERA (3.38) guiding their club to the top of the division as the season heads into July.
Lager League-Kolsch Division: Laughing Sun Red Dwarf - A solid heart of the batting order, with Zachary Brown (.318 average, 14 home runs, 56 RBIs), John Wood (.327 average, 3 home runs, 18 RBIs) and Jimmy Swan (.335 average, 9 home runs, 44 RBIs) is helping propel the Red Dwarf to a solid start offensively. On the back end, youngster Brad Cathcart (21 years old) is settling into the closer role, with 22 saves already this season and a 1.42 ERA.
Lager League-Helles Division: Sierra Nevada Narwhals - A red hot month of June (21-7) has pushed the Narwhals to the top of the pack with a 1.5 game lead. Right fielder Shane Lunday (10 home runs, 50 RBIs, .312 average) and designated hitter Oscar Alvarenga (16 home runs, 60 RBIs, .315 average) are doing their part to keep the club on the winning track.
Lager League-Tripel Division: Horsefly Jazzy Razzy - The Jazzy Razzy take a 2.5 game division lead into July, thanks in large part to their ace starter Bobby Rodriguez (9-1, 1.59 ERA), who has become the winningest pitcher in Beer League history (134 wins) as former all-time leader Jim Stamey has missed the current season due to injury.
Stout League-Porter Division: Funky Buddha Huki Idol - Funky Buddha takes the second largest division lead (7.5 games) into July as they seek a fourth straight playoff appearance and third straight division crown. The surprise of the season so far has come from 5th starter Jimmy Mullen, who is already 9-1 with a 1.69 ERA to lead the staff in both wins and ERA.
Stout League-Dunkel Division: Rabid Dwarves of Doom - with a slim 1 game lead, the Dwarves of Doom look to their designated hitter Alex Sanchez to lead the club towards their third straight post season. Sanchez leads the club with 16 home runs.
Stout League-Dunkel Division: Red Rock Elephino - after a string of last place finishes and no post season play since the inaugural 2020 season, Red Rock is looking to break that streak as they enjoy the largest division lead at this point (8.5 games). Cleanup batter David Lopez is on pace for a career year in home runs, with 24 already, and on pace for 52 (5 more than his career high of 47).
Stout League-Altbier Division: Toboggan Lunatic Fridge - a strong month of June (19-8) has the Lunatic Fridge enjoying a 5.5 game lead heading into July. Starter Joe DePriest is on pace to have a career year on the mound with a 5-1 record to this point, and a 2.15 ERA.
