May recap - division leaders:
Lager League - Pilsner Division: Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot - solid pitching from starters Troy Daniel (5-2, 1.63 ERA) and Joe McBean (4-1, 1.79 ERA) are two reasons why the Blithering Idiot sit atop the division after the first two months of the season.
Lager League - Kolsch Division: Scorched Earth Giant Killer - a scorching month of May (22-7) has given the Giant Killer a 7 game lead in the division and the best record in the Beer League. Closer Victor Banuelos is off to another red hot start, with 16 saves already to go with his 1.37 ERA
Lager League - Helles Division: Boulder Killer Penguin - despite a sub par month (13-16), Boulder still holds the top spot in the division iwth a 26-23 record. 3-4 hitters Mike Park (13 home runs, 38 RBIs, .309 avg) and Miguel Rodriguez (10 home runs, 31 RBIs, .318 avg) are doing their part to carry the Killer Penguin offense.
Lager League - Tripel Division: Daft Badger Hoppypotamus - an 18-11 month of May has Daft Badger in unfamiliar territory... namely, the top spot in the division. After finishing dead last in the division 4 of their first 6 seasons (and 3rd place in the other two), fans of the Hoppypotamus aren't sure how to take this new found success.
Stout League - Porter Division: Terrapin Hopsecutioner - while starters Marcello Waddingham (1-4) and Danny Roberson (2-5) struggle to start the season, fellow starters Mark Whiteside (4-0) and Jonathon Perkins (3-0) are doing their part to offset their teammates struggles; and help keep Terrapin not only in contention in the division, but in the top spot after the first two months.
Stout League - Dunkel Division: Four Hands Typhon - thanks to a balanced approach of solid offense (4th in runs scored, 6th in batting avg) and defense (2nd in runs against, zone rating, and bullpen ERA, 5th in starters ERA), Four Hands take a 3.5 game lead into June.
Stout League - Eisbock Division: Russian River Blind Pig - an unusually sub par month for the Blind Pig (14-15) drop their overall record to 29-20, but still good enough to sit atop the division with a 1.5 game lead. 5th starter Josh Merkey is off to his best start ever, with a 5-0 record and 0.78 ERA.
Stout League - Altbier Division: Tattered Flag Man of War - in one of the tightest divisions in the league, Tattered Flag holds the top spot by a slim 1 game margin; and only 5.5 games ahead of the basement spot.
