He paid a quarter of a million bucks to get that out there and they should have supported it, or at least remained silent. Also, as reluctant as I am to agree with him, Dolan got that one right. I really like what Gorton has built (though I wouldn't have re-signed Kreider) but, he and JD misread the tea leaves here. I just hope Drury turns out to be as good as he was predicted to be, and doesn't go too far to get "grit," which is fairly easy to add on the cheap in the NHL. If they get a tough guy, I hope they get a Wendel Clark type, who can get you 20-25 goals as well as toughness. Kind of nice to have a life-long Ranger fan in charge, though, isn't it?

Back to OL, Port Ruppert is again going through its summer slump. I now wish I would have kept track of the stats to see just at how profoundly bad they have played in June, July, and sometimes August.
Non-OL I think JD and Gorton needed one more year before they could be judged. They cleared a lot of cap issues and accumulated many assets that can turned into the missing jam the teams sorely needs. Neither is a slouch if you look at JD and the types of players he brought to both St. Louis and Columbus and Gorton built the cup winning Bruins. They were just getting to point where they could shape the roster. Drury was given a nice head start and has a good chance to get the pat on the back meant for the other two-if he doesnt screw it up.
