An experimental season came to an end with a mediocre finish as Waffletown closed out 2033 with a record of 84-78, only good enough for 3rd place in the division and 7 games back of a wild card spot. Management had made some pre-season changes to the Spile, making it more challenging on hitters, in the hopes their pitching staff and defense could shine; but the team struggled to find a good groove all year. They also struggled against their division rivals, which always spells doom for any team hoping to reach the post season.

"Gotta take care of business in your own division, and we didn't do that." said reliever Tony Mullane, who made five starts in right field to go along with his pitching duties (batted .278 for the year ). Within the division, the Syrups went 31-45, so the fact they finished over .500 is actually a positive note on an otherwise forgettable year.
