A lot of tournament teams are just good...it takes a substantial investment into the best cards to really be competitive. At current prices it takes tens of thousands of PP for a silver team, over 100k for gold. Bronze & iron are cheaper, but they are also flooded with a million teams, and with less differentiation between the cards it's more of a crapshoot.
