I don't think so. The problem has always been getting the salaries right mean getting the financials exactly right. It is a little more than just opening day payroll since you have coaches, scouting, player development etc. So I think the game kind of goes on averages for level of players listed in the salary section for financials. Once you go past a season, you really can't just give a guy the contract he made that year and let him be a free agent.
You can turn on historical transactions in the game. That takes away the ability to really do something different and sign free agents your team didn't have. The free agents are guys with no teams at that time.
