The Spile erupted in celebration as their boys made a thrilling comeback to score 4 runs in their final two innings at bat (2 in the 7th, 2 in the 8th) to secure a 5-4 wild card victory.
While the celebration in the stands and outside the park were a raucous affair, the tone in the clubhouse was more subdued.
"We've been to this point before. One wild card victory isn't going to cut it. We need to stay focused 'cause it's just going to get harder from here on out." said reliever Mort Cooper.
Waffletown moves on to the LDS to face top seed Nice Aigles. The two teams met seven times during the regular season, with Waffletown taking the series 4 games to 3.
