after the abysmal month of August and the slightly less dismal month of September; the mood in the Waffletown clubhouse improved immensely in October. A large portion of that turnaround was a result of the continued spending spree by management as they made use of the funds from the sale of Gary Sheffield. New additions to the squad:
SP - Burleigh Grimes - 1928 (80)
SP - Curt Davis - 1934 (81)
SS - Luke Appling - 1943 (76)
this leaves only two catchers and a utility infielder to locate who fits the mold of the old timey player to complete the roster.
For October, Waffletown pushed their record back above the .500 mark as they went on an 8 game win streak to go 13-5 so far this month. They clawed their way back up to 22nd place in the league with a 90-84 record, and hope their new winning ways will be a sign of good things to come when the real season begins.
for points earned/spent on 12/2:
Waffletown earned 1205 points; and spent 6952 (breakdown: 2201 on the previously mention Red Faber; 750 on Luke Appling; 2350 on Burleigh Grimes; and 1651 on Curt Davis)
