The options "high leverage" and "Avoid high leverage" refer to whether or not the pitcher will be used in the game during critical, make or break situations, ie: tying run in scoring position, 1 out.
You can prevent certain relievers from being placed in the game in such situations (avoid high leverage) and encourage other ones to be put in the game (high leverage).
