Question about relief pitchers role
When I am setting up my relief pitchers and choose their roles on them, there is a secondary role of leverage. Anyone know what that means?

It is to help the AI manage bullpens that have some guys who are tired. If you setup guy has a secondary role of closer...he will be used as the closer if your closer is tired etc.

If I understand you correctly, you are asking what leverage means? It is a measure of how important the plate appearance is, specifically, how much the teams' win probabilities would change based on the outcome. The highest leverage situation would be, say, bottom of the 9th, two outs, home team down 1 with the bases loaded - an out loses the game, a hit wins it. The lowest leverage situations would be, well, a blowout, or anytime in the earlier innings when a single at-bat can't really decide the rest of the game. So, the leverage roles are to fine-tune which relievers should pitch in more or less important situations, even within the broad roles of closer, setup, etc.

The options "high leverage" and "Avoid high leverage" refer to whether or not the pitcher will be used in the game during critical, make or break situations, ie: tying run in scoring position, 1 out.
You can prevent certain relievers from being placed in the game in such situations (avoid high leverage) and encourage other ones to be put in the game (high leverage). |

The leverage stuff is under Usage, not Secondary Role.
