That's normally what I do too.
Complications might arise if the player you want to end and keep in the minors is out of options on the rehab? That would skirt the rule of being waived.
Or a player with ability to "refuse a demotion". If you can leave them in the minors after a rehab, that skirts that too.
Probably would take much more coding logic to account for that complexity.
Just my guess.
