Omaha Mutuals (25-9 .735 1st place in the Grand National Association) at
Kansas City Cowboys (22-12 .647 3 GB 2nd place)

We start a big 3 game showdown with our nearest rival, both geographically and in the standings, today. A sweep by either team would be tremendous. We have enjoyed our run against some suspect ball clubs and I think we may be in for a reality check in this series and the next, when we play the defending champion Brooklyn Gladiators. This is the first time we have played the Cowboys this season.

Lee Sprague, Omaha (23-3.5) (R 16-5 1.92 6.7-0.9-4.2 H-BB-K/9) vs. Fred Barrow, K. C. (31-4.7) (R 10-6 2.73 9.4-1.2-4.0)

Won - 10 to 7

We did not get out first hit until the 5th inning. Going into the bottom of the 8th, we were leading 3 to 1, but 3 Cowboy runs saw us head to the 9th, down 4 to 3. 5 hits and 3 errors in the final inning gave us 7 runs! In the bottom of the 9th, they got 3 hits and we made 2 errors to let them score 3 times and give us a consternation.

Our 3, 4 and 5 hitters, RF Hank Roberts (24-30), LF Dave Cunningham (27-5.4) and 1B Frank Burnett (30-4.4) went 6 for 14, with each of them garnering 2 hits and 2 RBIs.
