I don't have a great deal of sympathy for the Yankees here as the CBA specifically forbids talent-related bonuses - you can only assign bonuses based on PAs or innings pitched or awards won - and the team went around that by signing a separate deal with A-Rod through their PR department. That they now can't get it voided because A-Rod violated a baseball-related good conduct clause but not the actual law makes me cry big fat tears for them.
I think there's a strong chance that A-Rod hits the Willie Mays milestone but he'll likely go no further than that. As far as that goes, I'd be interested to see just how ironclad they made that PR contract... does it specifically state that he has to hit #660 as a Yankee to receive that bonus? Because I think it would be hilarious if he got cut, signed with the Marlins, hit like .180 in 150 at bats with 7 homeruns, and the Yanks still had to pay out.
