John Elway and Dan Marino were drafted and ended up playing football. Randy Poffo was a minor leaguer for the Cardinals.. You may or may not know him better as Randy Savage..
It does happen where a player will switch to another sport.. It just tends to be when they're in the minors.

Condrege Holloway played in the CFL and was a 1st round pick of the Expos.
I think the idea was good prospects who are actually playing baseball. Elway played 42 games in the minors. None of these guys were a surprise were they?
