9 games per week. evening games on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday's off. Scheduled double headers on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

As fantastical as my schedule is, I just don't see "iron men of old" as being realistic... they just played hurt, and had shorter careers, for one thing. (This is getting pretty far off topic though. I hope nobody starts arguing about this, at least not without providing feedback on my actual question.)
