If you open up the new hair files in GIMP (or Photoshop or PSP), you should see the extra shadow. You could just erase it.

However, the default hair that you'd see without a cap is not that convincing. You can see this if you run the actual FaceGen program. You'd probably want to have a number of different hair files available. I know they (the FaceGen company -- Singular Inversions) have extra hair files for purchase. Or, you could create your own hair files.

At the end of the day, though, the 3D model is of a bald head. You can't have hair that extends off the head because there's nothing there to "draw" it on. The best you can do is as if you had a Sharpie and were going to draw fake hair on a bald man's head. You're only going to get the illusion of hair and very short hair at that. It's the same problem with creating any longer beards.

I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm at all. I just want you to know what you're getting into.
