So now I've traded away my best prospect for nothing. The last backup save I have is from the beginning of the season.

So my question is:
-Is there any way to go back and undo the trade?
-If not, is there a save file I can edit somewhere to give myself a contract with the guy I traded for so I'm not just SOL?

Thanks.

Yes.

Got to manager's mode.

Chick commissoners mode.

Initiate the trade.

Select all the same parties.

In commisioners mode there will be an option called force trade.

Use that.

Go back and turn commisioners mode off.
